What Are This Years SEO Trends?

SEO Trends For 2023

Now that we have a good grasp on 2023, it’s time to start fleshing out your SEO strategy for the year. From AI-powered optimization to conversational marketing, many SEO marketing trends will be emerging even more as we head further into 2023. Here’s a look at this year’s SEO trends.

AI - Artificial Intelligence

The use of artificial intelligence in anything from content production to chatbots to search engines has really taken off in recent years. More than 50 percent of U.S. companies report they will accelerate their plans to embrace AI this year.

One example includes AI-powered software for content creation that can create original, unique and creative content for blogs and web copy. As another example, AI can be used to study consumer behavior and search patterns.

Vocal Search Optimization

Voice Search & SEO

Not as many people are typing their queries into Google these days. There’s a big increase in the use of tools like Google Now, Cortana, and Siri so people can more easily perform voice queries in search engines. They’re asking more direct and casual questions right into their mobile devices, and they want straight answers.

That means you – or better yet, your digital marketer -- has to optimize all your content to better answer user-specific questions rather than providing general information.

Conversational Marketing

Chatbots are where it’s at. People want immediate responses when they have a question, and chatbots are right there to step in and solve the problem. The global chatbot market size is expected to grow to $9.4 billion in 2024, up from $2.6 billion in 2019. Chatbots are the most popular form of conversational marketing, designed to helps businesses and their customers interact personally and instantly.

Some strategies businesses are using to integrate conversational marketing include:

  • Chatbots
  • Individualized videos
  • Custom emails
  • Virtual sales reps

Long-Form Content

According to the State of Content Marketing Report, long reads (3,000-plus words) snag 3x more traffic and 4x more shares, with 3.5x more backlinks than articles averaging between 900 and 1200 words. Try to focus on long-form content this year in order to achieve higher search rankings. But don’t just fill it up with fluff and keywords. The content has to have consistent quality with shareable, engaging information.

You can do this by breaking up your content into sections with H2 and H3 subheadings. This will make it more scannable. You should also link to relevant, authoritative sources, and make sure your content is easy to share.

Visual Search

Visual search optimization (a form of SEO called VSEO) is basically the process of optimizing images for visual search engines. Put another way, visual search engines can be helpful when you want to ask a question with an image instead of texts. For instance, Google Lens -- an AI-powered visual search tool -- was launched by Google in 2017. Just two years after the launch, one billion queries were asked through visual search and that number shows no signs of slowing down. So far, about 30 percent of people use visual search for shopping.

In addition to Google Lens, other platforms such as Pinterest, Bing, and Amazon have introduced visual search engines to provide users with a better, more robust experience.
